Here's the next to last chapter! Major apologies for the qualities of these scans, I was mostly working from very poor Chinese-sourced photos of the magazine raws. It's certainly been a pleasure bringing you all this manga that I've managed to churn out over the past 2 years. I have more I want to bring to you all, but I will be going on a year hiatus after I finish the last chapter of Kengai Princess, and hopefully the seventh chapter of Suijin no Ikenie to you all. I am still going to scanalate Suijin no Ikenie Ch. 7, BUT the series has been officially released in the US, and you can pick the first couple of volumes here. It's ONLY $7.40! Tripitaka Toriniku (c.1) Release!

Hello everyone! I actually started this project a loooooong time ago, and it's a really crappy low-key (but hopefully readable-enough until we get a more official release--I used the Chinese scans for a reason) translation of SUZUKI Julietta's (Kami-sama Hajimemashita!) new manga that I am so thrilled to finally get to read. Big kudos to C. (for making me realize I wasn't using proper names) and Last Heaven Fansub to get this out. I will most likely NOT continue this series, as I now know other more popular groups are planning to take it on. Sure is tempting, though. 

Its more official title is Tripitaka Toriniku, but it's also been translated as Tripitaka Torinique. I will be using the former. 

Tripitaka Toriniku

Description (by me): Kaka, an unusually strong girl with a talent for combat, sees it has her duty to protect and assist her caretaker and master Genjou-sama, a kind but frail young priest who nearly died saving her from a tiger. When poisoned water threatens to destroy their village, Genjou-sama leaves for the capital to find a solution. In his absence, demons burn down their formerly peaceful village and transform the villagers placed under Kaka's care into monkeys.

Kaka flees in a desperate attempt to find Genjou-sama, only to find a haughty powerful spirit is now using his body as a vessel! She learns that the human Emperor has been secretly replaced by the evil Demon King, and that this spirit has come back for one simple purpose: to restore order. The contact he offers is simple. If she accompanies him on his journey to the capital and all goes according to plan, the spirit will give Genjou-sama back, relinquishing the priest's body and retrieving his soul from the underworld. Will Kaka take the risk?

I am so thrilled that so many people love this manga, but I have made up my mind to stop scanlating Suijin no Ikenie after volume two. It has been licensed by Viz (first volume to be released Spring 2017) in the US, where I’m based, and I want to support our homegrown manga releases as much as I can. I implore other scan groups to not continue this manga’s scanlation in English for at least a year after I finish my own work on the series. :)
